Healthcare
OUR HEALTH SYSTEM MUST SERVE US
Michigan's healthcare system is failing because it prioritizes profits over people, making care a privilege rather than a right. We must be unapologetic in our fight to expand access to affordable, high-quality healthcare for all residents.
Addressing this crisis requires acknowledging that our current infrastructure is broken. Our inefficient data systems create unnecessary bureaucracy and thus makes it difficult for residents to access the benefits the state provides.
I have spent the last three years working for a Reproductive Rights organization and my guiding principle for my work is pretty simple: the only people who should be involved in making healthcare decisions are the patient and their doctor. PERIOD! Insurance companies have no business deciding what access to care patients should be able to receive.
Universal Reach
- Our vision ensures every resident receives timely medical attention through robust Medicaid expansion and increased funding for local community centers. We are dedicated to decoupling medical coverage from employment status so that your physical wellbeing is never tied to your job. Additionally, we will deploy mobile medical units and virtual health solutions to reach every corner of our district.
Price Reform
- Michigan workers should never face the impossible choice between purchasing food and vital prescriptions. Our platform focuses on capping drug costs and removing predatory hidden charges. By mandating total price transparency from hospitals and insurers, we will foster a competitive environment that lowers costs. Furthermore, we will prune unnecessary administrative waste to redirect funds back to patient care.
Challenging the Monopolies
- We intend to break the grip that massive insurance firms hold over our local medical landscape. By banning these corporations from owning clinics or pharmacies, we prevent dangerous conflicts of interest that inflate prices. Our plan also secures comprehensive mental health parity, ensuring insurers cannot deny behavioral treatments. Finally, we will abolish restrictive provider networks to grant patients true freedom of choice.
